Food, Glorious Food!

One of the joys of living at in2Action is the home cooking that comes our way. These home cooked meals started out being the result of “House cleaning.” The arrangement was volunteers came on a designated night of the month to ensure the house cleaning was properly done, and if needed the volunteers could help with some spiffing up. They would also bring dinner.

These evenings have developed into purely social evenings. The gentlemen in the houses do a fine job of keeping the houses clean in anticipation of the volunteers’ arrival. This allows all of the time together for eating together, sitting and chatting, sharing stories, and just being in community. This happens on the second Sunday of the month for the 1410 house and the last Saturday of the month for the duplex. The food is always wonderful and the conversation enjoyable.

There is also a small group from The Crossing who brings dinner once a month. Again, for a strictly social evening. It is such a blessing and the home cooking is always enjoyed.

In October, after the dinner, we were treated to a mini-concert by one of our residents who plays the saxophone. It gave everyone a chance to talk about their musical past, from those dreaded piano lessons to playing the recorder, to just playing the radio! A great time was had by all.
