The Guys

Midday Friday, December 14, 2018, we set off on an adventure to Branson, Missouri. Fifteen residents and seven volunteers/staff headed south. We started out caravanning but some people traveled faster than others, so we agreed to meet at the restaurant for dinner. We met at the Golden Corral for a filling buffet. From there we went to the Sight and Sound Theatre to see “Samson”. It was an exciting production in an impressive theatre built just for this kind of show. We were in the 4th row from the stage and next to the aisle where the animals and cast entered – quite exciting! The story was inspiring and everyone was inspired in many different ways.

The next stop was the Methodist Church, which allowed us to use its gym and shower rooms. The in2Action staff members stayed in a hotel, what a bunch of wimps! The evening was uneventful as everyone was pretty tired. In the morning Dan brought coffee and donuts from Dunkin and the gents were roused and ready for the day. We started with a really good Bible devotion, followed by exhilarating games of dodge ball and basketball. There were some prizes for the winners.

It was then off to Bass Pro Shop for a couple of hours of wandering around and dreaming. For those of you who are not aware, Bass Pro Shop in Springfield is the most popular tourist attraction in Missouri. There was lots of walking around and dreaming about all the things the gents could do with all those interesting, sportsy things.

Our final stop was The Hill, an Italian restaurant in Springfield, where we had a most amazing buffet. That’s two big buffets in less than 24 hours, Oh, My!

Then safely home. It was a blessed two days and all of us enjoyed and were inspired by Samson, spending time together and just having this wonderful opportunity.
