It is often said that the opposite of addiction is connection, and that truth comes to life here through relationships with each other, the community, and most of all Jesus Christ. In my role as Activities Director , I operate from the social model of recovery, where connection drives real change. I focus on shifting language because the way we speak shapes how we see ourselves and how others see us. Through intentional activities, I help residents step outside their comfort zones, try new experiences, and build trust both in themselves and in the men around them. Seeing the peace wash over the face of the residents when we instill hope and stand unified with them is beyond words. Ultimately, I came searching for purpose. I found so much more. I came to in2action on May 9th, 2025, within 2 months, I was given the opportunity to be senior peer support\/house manager for Barnhouse which I really enjoy doing. Now as of March 23rd, 2026, I have become the full-time maintenance manager! I am currently pursuing a Human Science degree with a psychology focus at Post University, and I carry the discipline and resilience I gained from my Army service into my work. I grew up in a home impacted by poverty, addiction, and alcoholism, challenges that affected both sides of my family for many generations. I came to in2Action as a broken and lost soul, and the organization has been one of the biggest blessings I could have ever imagined. As a participant in the program, I was able to build a stable life free from drugs, alcohol, and criminal behavior. Since completing the program, I have reached many major milestones, including 18 months of continuous sobriety, becoming a Certified Peer Specialist, restoring relationships with my four children, becoming a full member of a local church, starting a weekly discipleship Bible study, and becoming a positive role model in my community. Most recently, I joined the in2Action team as a Certified Peer Specialist at the ROC, where I now have the opportunity to help others connect with resources that can improve their lives.
