Our small group has had an amazing experience working with everyone at In2Action over the last 4 years. We started meeting monthly 4 years ago to help with cleaning at the house and to develop relationships, share a meal, and make connections with the guys. Over time, this has evolved primarily into relationship building over a homecooked meal (well at least usually it is homecooked).
This has been a life-changing experience for the members of our small group. We are continually touched by the guys in the house who share about the positive impact of In2Action on their lives. The open honesty of the men in In2Action about their lives and how their lives are changing are particularly meaningful. The understanding we have gained has allowed us to advocate in the Columbia community for the men of In2Action and others who are in similar situations. We have enjoyed seeing so many men grow in their love for God and for others through the relationships that are built through In2Action.
We hope that through sharing a meal (many of the In2Action men have said that they have not had a home-cooked meal for some time) that we can develop strong bonds. We have been able to discuss the various opportunities in the Columbia community, including sharing some educational and work opportunities, hoping to support positive transition into local communities and work situations.
We recognize that our sinful thoughts and actions have negatively impacted the world in which we live. Through our time together, we experience our shared brokenness and the need that we have for a savior. Often God puts such challenging experiences in our lives to awaken us to the need that we have for him. Our small group members have experienced God’s love in exciting ways each month through our time at In2Action. We always leave the house remarking about how encouraged we are by God’s love that is shown through everyone at In2Action.
